Mike & Crystal

My first Engagement session for this year was with Mike and Crystal. The location was the University of New Mexico grounds. This place is very special to the couple because this is where they meet and spent their dates since they were very busy with school and didn't really have time to go out except on occasion. Shooting them here though kinda rekindled the passion and hopefully the photos will show . . .

Thanks to my buddy Dave Lynch for giving me the opportunity to shoot with him

A Different kind of Wedding

a couple of beers, table tops, strobes, camera and some crazy imagination with the initiative of my mentor Rip Williams this is what you get. . . A beer wedding.

A Friday night at the studio was dedicated to tabletop and studio photography, some for stock, some just for fun and another way of creating the studio into a classroom for learning ways of lighting products specifically produce.

Just like any other night it veers off sometimes into something more whimsical and imaginative . . .

Enjoy, Chillax and have fun . . .

A tribute to Chile

New Mexico has always been known for its Green Chile, and a pressing question for people here is Red or Green. After several attempts my palate has finally learned to love Green Chile. Putting it on my pizza, soup and even hamburgers. My photography has always been inspired by everyday things but mostly by movies and my penchant for cooking. A frustrated chef turned photographer here is my tribute to New Mexico's famous ingredient . . .

just messing around in the new studio . . . stayed up till 3 AM getting new ideas and new concepts and bringing them to life with my camera and some lights . . .here is one of my recent works with a study on emotions and veils. . . a primer perhaps for the wedding season up ahead.

Lighting for theses photos was one Alienbee 800 at half power and was on a boom camera top directly above the subject. Shot with my namesake Nikon D200 and 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens.

Trash the Dress . . . Finally!!!

In early January this year, I was fortunate to acquire a wedding gown from a very good friend. Ever since I got this gown, I always wanted to trash it. After several weeks of waiting, and the gown coming back from WPPI Las Vegas and all, I finally did it. I went with photo buddy Andrew Corbell (somewhat related to Nikon/Hasselblad/NIK software master Tony) and another fellow photographer Cristal. This time though Cristal was on the other side of the line as a model. It was her first time modeling since she is always behind the camera. We went to the Jemez Hot Springs , Jemez, New Mexico and here are the results.

The lighting used was one Nikon SB-800 on a pocket wizard and I was able to capture these photos with my trusty Nikon D200 and Cristal's Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8 DX lens (which I adore). for more of this series view my Flickr account and CLICK ME!
